Data Centers

The Terrestrial Information Systems Laboratory supports three data archive centers:

LAADS DAAC (Level-1 and Atmosphere Archive & Distribution System Distributed Active Archive Center) primarily archives and distributes data on clouds, water vapor, and aerosols in Earth’s atmosphere as well as key instrument data for NASA, NOAA and European Space Administration (ESA) missions. LAADS DAAC also serves as a backup source for MODIS and VIIRS land products.

GES DISC (Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center) provides access to global climate data, primarily in the areas of atmospheric composition and dynamics, global precipitation, and solar irradiance.  GES DISC provides data subsetting, exploration, visualization, and access services for 6.8+ PB (>230 million data files) covering more than 3,000 public and restricted collections.

OB.DAAC (Ocean Biology Distributed Active Archive Center) is managed by NASA's Ocean Biology Processing Group (OBPG). OB.DAAC is responsible for archiving satellite ocean biology data, including historic and current missions, and data from NASA, NOAA and partner space organizations.
